Bodmin will be their first well-earned overnight break. However, it's no rest for the wicked and
as the sun rises over the south-west, Thomas and Andrena will set off, heading for Crediton, near Exeter.
Towns and villages are few and far between in this area and unfortunately, it will be nothing but
concrete and road signs for the initial 70 km. They will take, in order the A38, B3254 and B3362, passing through Liskeard
and Tavistock.
Liskeard is nestled in south-east Cornwall. It has a very scenic town centre, named The Parade. This
is said to be the true heart of the town. The town centre consists of narrow, winding streets, accomodating low-scale independent
shops and the pedestrianisation of it in 1998 has been a major success. Hopefully this will not pose to much of a problem
to any cyclists willing to pass through.
Upon reaching Tavistock, Thomas and Andrena will have left Cornwall and arrived in the outskirts
of Devon and Dartmoor. It is a classic West Country Market Town, with a population of 11,000. After
taking the A386, and 70 km into their journey, they will arrive at Okehampton.
Okehampton is a period, historic town with old stone-clad buildings. It depends largely on its influx
of tourism per annum and the large volume of cafes, restaurants, tourist sites and gift shops cater for this influx. It would
be an ideal stop for a hot meal and some supplies, however, they will not enter the town until approx 70 km into their journey.
Okehampton posesses facilities accomodating sports and leisure, horse riding, fishing, golf, cycling (thankfully), walking
and arts and crafts.
26 km and some 3 or 4 A and B-class roads later, they will arrive at Crediton, situated north of
the Dartmoor Forest.
